Young Thug and Gunna have been in jail for more than two weeks already, and while their fans thought that their release would be a speedy process - it is taking a slower time than anticipated.

Both rappers were arrested in a massive grand-jury indictment that involved 26 other affiliates of the YSL Gang (Young Slime Life) that authorities believed Young Thug had formed in 2012 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The two's recent incarceration has put on a huge weight on the rap community, particularly Roddy Ricch, who had recently said his piece on Gunna's recent arrest.

Roddy Ricch Calls For Gunna's Freedom in Prison After RICO and Felony Arrests

In an Instagram Story that the Compton rapper has posted recently, he calls for the freedom of the "DS4EVER" hitmaker from jail.

Gunna and Roddy Ricch's friendship goes way back. The two have had huge collaborations in the past.

In 2010, Gunna helped Roddy Ricch on "Start wit Me," the second lead single on the latter's debut album, "Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial."

On Gunna's second album, "Wunna," Roddy also made an appearance on "COOLER THAN A B*ITCH."

The two's last collaboration was just last year - on Roddy Ricch's "Don't I" - a track on his 2021 album "Live Life Fast." The album hit No. 4 on the Billboard 200 charts.

It is undeniable that the two have had a special bond - thus, his call for freedom on his friend's release.

Gunna, Young Thug Indictment Explained

Young Thug and Gunna were indicted on a massive 56-count grand jury indictment last May 10, 2022. The two were among the 28 members of the Young Slime Life gang that were indicted.

The indictees, most of whom were rappers, were charged with conspiring to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, murder, armed robbery, and participation in criminal street gang activity.

Last May 23, 2022, Gunna was denied bond, and his trial was set to take place on January 2023. The presiding judge has argued that he is forbidding the rapper for release as he holds a "commanding position" on YSL, which could potentially cause witness tampering.

For Young Thug, his hearing was further delayed as the judge has decided to take on the Conflict of Interest Case his lawyer was embroiled on.
