Less than two hours after basketball player Kevin Durant announced that Lil Wayne and Drake were dropping a new single "Grindin," the song was officially released. Today (Aug. 8) on the kick off date of their Drake Vs. Lil Wayne Tour, the two Young Money rappers dropped the new track, a slow burning piano sampling ode to that everyday grind.

The haunting beat of the track is highlighted by a repetitive, high octave piano with heavy drum machine beats keeping the pace in line. It's intense music - not so much for a party, instead hyping listeners up for a big event, be it a fight or a massive joint tour.

Ever the strained vocalist, Wayne sounds as stressed and high pitched as ever, getting a little singsong-y with his rhymes over the intense beat, resulting in a very ominous single. Drake follows in line with Wayne's flow, almost becoming undistinguishable from his mentor. Matching his high voice with his own, Drake begins to carry the beat along, making for a seamless "Grindin" transition.

Lyrically, the song is all about that grind: grinding on the ladies, the daily work life, grinding that dope, but in typical Lil Wayne style, it's not all serious. Rife with pop cultural references from Jay Z's alleged affairs to Michael Jackson and James Bond, there's plenty of clever wordplay for any rap music fan to enjoy.
