Is Lil Tjay dead? It appears to be one of the hottest rumors whirling around as fans hoped to be updated about his condition, after being shot and undergoing an emergency surgery.

While waiting, some opted to take matters in their own hands and speculate that the rapper must be dead. It's not going to be surprising, considering how outlets have been reporting his injuries as being severe.

But according to the Sun, the rapper is actually recovering in the hospital. This tidbit however has not been widely been made public yet. 

After the incident, Tione Jayden Merritt, the star's real name, underwent emergency surgery. 

At a Chipotle and an Exxon gas station in Edgewater, two shootings were reported, according to TMZ. Police is now investigating as to who could possibly be the shooter and the motive. 

Tione Merritt, also known as Tjay, released a teaser for a new track, "Stressed," on June 8 and was slated to perform at the Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park in American Dream in July. He was actually predicting a "great summer" before this shooting. He said so in social media.

Hip-hop musician French Montana used the praying hands emoji in a tweet to ask for prayers for his younger brother, Tjay. It was apparent that while he is just starting in the industry, he already amassed a following. 

The picture of Lil Tjay smoking and leaning on a door frame that he posted to Instagram five days ago has since gone viral. It was his last IG post before this horrific incident. 

"In My Head," a new song that uses a sample from Iyaz's Replay, was previewed by Lil Tjay in early March 2022. 

It was finally made public on April 1st, 2022. 

It was uploaded to his YouTube channel on April 24, and it was titled Lavish. 

The following day, he made "Strictly 4 My Fans", his debut EP, public. 

In January 2019, Merritt was featured on Polo G's song Pop Out, which peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, according to Rolling Stone. Polo G is an American rapper. 

In July, he was a guest vocalist on PrettyMuch's song "Lying." 

Later that year, he released an EP titled F.N, and the album's lead single, "F.N," went on to rank at number 56 on the Billboard Hot 100 as his first solo hit. 

Merritt released his debut album, "True 2 Myself," on October 11, 2019. 

Lil Tjay recently shared the stage with Seattle rapper Lil Mosey during the latter's 2019 national tour. 

He also performed at the three-day Rolling Loud Miami music festival in Miami Gardens, Florida in May 2019 and the Los Angeles festival in December, alongside Migos, Travis Scott, Kid Cudi, and others.
