Bret Michaels Medical History

Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle in 2019, the 59-year-old musician revealed that he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the young age of 6.

He had not been public about his condition until 1987 when he collapsed on stage because of low blood sugar levels.

Because of this, the rocker has become vocal in advocating for the treatment of Type 1 Diabetes and Insulin accessibility.

In 2014, he underwent kidney surgery and was admitted repeatedly to the hospital a total of six times within two weeks.

At the time, Michael's longtime friend Pete Evick explained to fans that the singer had returned to playing against the doctor's recommendations after two stents were placed on his body.

Four years before his kidney surgery, he also had an emergency appendectomy - a surgery done to remove one's appendix. Shortly after, he had a bleed on his brain stem.

TMZ initially reported Bret Michael's hospitalization.
