Grammy Nominated rapper JID returns with "The Forever Story," four years since his last album, and it seems to be his most personal work yet.

He launched the release of "The Forever Story" with a short video entitled "The Forever Story: Coin Toss," seemingly from JID's point of view. It starts with him in a locker room and entering a football arena, only to find himself in the studio, and he's being asked to play the album.

Fans are already hyped, commenting: "This album 'bout to be [an] instant classic."

A fan commented: "I'm beyond hyped for this. I'm calling it: this is gonna be the album of the year." They also added that JID "never disappoints," a sentiment echoed across the comments section of the video uploaded on YouTube.

Long-Awaited Release

JID lets us in on his storytelling talent with his 15-track studio album. Fans have been anticipating this album because apparently, four years is an eternity in rap music.

However, despite not releasing the fourth studio album, JID has stayed relatively in the spotlight, occasionally dropping a single and appearing in collaborative works.

He appeared on some Dreamville compilations, "Revenge of the Dreamers 2" (2020) and "D-Day" (2022), and "Spilligion," a collaborative album with Spillage Village in 2020.

For "The Forever Story," JID tapped Kenny Mason for "Dance Now" and 21 Savage and Baby Tate for "Surround Sound," both previously released singles-which is reportedly on its way to receiving an RIAA Gold Certification, by the way.

Lil Wayne also featured on the album, working with JID on "Just in Time." Lil Durk with "Bruddanem," "Stars" with Yasiin Bey, "Can't Punk Me" featuring EarthGang, "Can't Make U Change" with Ari Lennox, "Better Days" featuring Johnta Austin, Ravyn Lanae with "Lauder Too," and more.

In an interview with Complex, the Atlanta rapper revealed that his third studio album serves as his "origin story," full of familial stories as it divulges into his upbringing, as well as his struggles and growth.

"This is just a good piece of the origin story, and this is me finding that space to be more visible and present with words," he said, referring to his music-making process and writing about his relationship with his six other siblings.

In the interview, he revealed that he has been working on the album for two years. "Me and [DJ] Drama are really gonna do it right," he said. "[...] We're going to do a DiCaprio 3."

When asked about the title of the album, he revealed: "I play forever, that's why I'm patient."
