Gwen Stefani discarded an entire album because she "had little to say." Or at least, words she liked people to actually hear and appreciate. After all, she did say she wrote over 30 songs and just decided to trash them as they are not inspiring enough.
The 'Hollaback Girl' singer, whose last solo album was 2017's "You Make It Feel Like Christmas," has stated that she wrote more than 30 songs during the COVID-19 "quarantine years," but none of them resonated with her or had any true meaning, so she discarded them all.
The "No Doubt" singer, who wed country star Blake Shelton last year, stated that she also decided to focus on her married life.
"I also got married that year and I just wanted to be in the marriage and try not to do so many things at one time and just be realistic that there are only so many things you can do at one time." She told Forbes magazine: "I kind of put it on the back burner."
The "Cool" singer contracted COVID-19 during the pandemic's early phases, prompting her to cancel four gigs in Las Vegas in February 2020.
Not that she has completely laid low.

In recent years, fans have witnessed the No Doubt lead singer serve as an intermittent coach on "The Voice," perform in her own Las Vegas residency, "Just A Girl," at the Zappos Theater, and establish her own makeup line, GXVE Beauty.
In addition to all of these accomplishments, Stefani has also recorded and released new music, albeit not a new album.
In December 2020, she released "Let Me Reintroduce Myself," which was followed by "Slow Clap," a collaboration with Saweetie.
It cannot be denied that 2022 has been a musically quiet year for Stefani though.
Other than appearing on "Light My Fire" with Sean Paul and Shenseea, she has not yet released a new album or single under her own name. She and Blake Shelton have a "family first" approach, thus they are now quite similar.
As earlier reported, Shelton's "family first" philosophy does not prevent him from focusing on his music or The Voice. The 46-year-old hitmaker, who has earned enormous success over the course of his 20-year career, vows to pursue his love until his fans tell him otherwise. However, instead of churning out song after song, he would likely release songs at a slower pace, as he is now in a position where he can enjoy some flexibility and independence at work.
