Kendrick Lamar achieves a record-setting streak once again as he wins his eighth Lyricist of the Year award in the recently-concluded 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards.

The Pulitzer Award-winning rapper dominated the annual hip hop ceremony with a staggering six wins, including the night's biggest awards.

Lamar marked his return to music after releasing his double album, "Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers," a shoo-in candidate for the Album of the Year Category at the 2023 GRAMMY Awards.

According to Billboard, Kendrick Lamar won big at last night's 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards held at the Cobb Energy Centre in Atlanta last September 30 but was only telecasted last night, October 4, on various BET channels in the country.

Kendrick has made a big name in Hip Hop this year, especially with the massive debut of his fifth studio album, "Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers," on the Billboard 200 albums chart last May 2022. The double album, composed of 19 tracks, including a digital bonus track, opened to 295,000 album-equivalent units.

"Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers" won Hip Hop Album the Year last night, beating other hip hop heavyweights along the way, including Kanye West's "Donda," Drake's "Certified Loverboy," Future's "I Never Liked You," Pusha T's "It's Almost Dry," and Nas' "King's Disease II."

Lamar also scored Hip Hop Artist of the Year and Best Hip Hop Live Performer. He has also scored another silver trophy for being hailed Video Director of the Year with fellow PGLang co-founder Dave Free.

Thanks to his collaboration with cousin Baby Keem, their song, "Family Ties," won Best Hip Hop Video. At the 2022 GRAMMYs, Keem scored his first gramophone for Best Rap Performance for the same track.

The cherry on top of Kendrick's huge win last night was his eighth year of winning Lyricist of the Year. This puts the "All The Stars" hitmaker on a record-setting streak as he has won multiple times in the category than anyone else in the history of the BET Hip Hop Awards.

With his six wins last night, Lamar is already tied with Jay-Z and TI for Hip Hop Album of the Year. This also marked the rapper's third Best Hip Hop Video and Best Live Performer and his second Hip Hop Artist of the Year Award.
