A touching and heartfelt performance was witnessed on "The Masked Singer" stage as Robin Thicke went on stage to pay tribute to his late father, Alan Thicke.

Thicke performed the theme song of the 1980s sitcom "Growing Pains," where his father was a cast member. "The Masked Singer" episode had a "TV Theme" night, in which the performers had to sing a song from a television show or movie.

According to reports, the performance was more touching because Thicke was joined onstage by his fellow judges, Nicole Scherzinger, Nick Cannon, Jenny McCarthy, and Ken Jeong, who were all wearing costumes.

On the screen, pictures of the judges were flashed. It included pictures of them during their younger years, and then a clip of them during the show.

"Give it up for my man Robin Thicke one more time with an amazing tribute to America's dad and Robin's dad, the unforgettable Alan Thicke," said Cannon after Thicke's performance.

Thicke honored his father by performing "As Long As We Got Each Other." His father died in 2016, which deeply affected the singer.

'Maturing'

In a 2019 interview with Steve Harvey, Thicke opened up about his father's passing.

"I had a little maturing to do. Even though I was in my late 30s, still had a little maturing to do," he shared. He also added that he struggled juggling being a father and his career, especially since his son was born just around the time "Blurred Lines," his viral hit song with T.I. and Pharrell Williams, came out.

"When you're on the come-up, you're worried about yourself and your own future. And then you have all these other mouths to feed and hearts to take care of," he continued.

According to reports, Thicke's father died in December 2016 due to type-A aortic dissection in California. Since then, Thicke has been remembering his father in different ways.

He released a song in 2021 entitled "That's What Love Can Do," a song he wrote shortly after the passing of his father.

"It's about the passing of the torch of my father to me and the kind of man I want to be," the 45-year-old explained.

"After my father's death, I remember a friend of his said, 'A big tree has fallen.' That's what my dad was: the big tree. Now here I am, this medium-size tree, and I've got to grow my branches and protect everybody. Every day I try to make him proud of me."

Just like his father, Thicke entered the entertainment industry, but diverted slightly and headed towards music. While he is best known for the Grammy-awarded song "Blurred Lines," he has also worked on several other songs and artists before and since then.
