After disclosing that he once serenaded former cellmate Jeffrey Dahmer, R&B artist Lyfe Jennings is defending himself against criticism, but he has an unusual defense.

Lyfe Jennings responded to the reaction on Thursday with a statement he may have gotten from his friend Captain Obvious... he stated that drugs had claimed more Black lives than Dahmer, who, for the record, killed 17 people - at least, according to cops.

Jennings had previously tweeted positively about his time with Dahmer in an Ohio jail. He referred to the serial killer/cannibal as "the homie" and stated that he sang "Pretty Brown Eyes" at Dahmer's request.

The walk down memory lane infuriated many of Lyfe's admirers, the most of whom were African-American, who believed he was cashing on the moment created by the wildly successful new Netflix series, as well as romanticizing his brush with evil. Lyfe asserts that he will not back down from cancel culture and continual trolling on his Instagram page and will exercise his right to unconventional thought.

The R&B singer's views resemble those of Kanye's best friend Candace Owens, who recently stated that Black people should be more concerned about obesity and gun violence than the "White Lives Matter" shirts she and Kanye donned last week.

Boosie Badazz, infuriated by Lyfe's remarks, demanded that all Black people boycott the Netflix show. The show has been condemned for being sympathetic to Dahmer, who preyed on young men of color and, according to the show, received many passes from racist and/or homophobic police officers.

Due to Ryan Murphy's immensely acclaimed Netflix series, "Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story," the lives and times of one of America's best-documented serial killers, Jeffrey Dahmer, certainly caught the attention of millions, once more.

In addition to attracting a record number of viewers since its broadcast on September 21, it has also sparked a blaze of debate and discussion on social media, with commenters ranging from ordinary citizens to politicians, sports figures, and entertainment superstars, among others.

Chester "Lyfe" Jennings is a singer-songwriter who has won multiple awards. His discography consists of "Must Be Nice," "Boomerang," "If Tomorrow Never Comes," and "Baby," among others. His most recent studio album was released in 2019.

Jennings was born in Ohio in 1978 and has four brothers and sisters. According to CBS News, Jennings served a decade in prison from 1992 to 2002 after being convicted of arson in Ohio.
