Kelly Clarkson and Sam Smith recently collaborated together to sing one of the former's classic hits and it appears that fans like their duet rendition as they commended the pair on social media.

The "Unholy" hitmaker recently appeared on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" where they joined the host in her daily "Kellyoke" segment where she usually performs song covers of other artists. In previous episodes, Clarkson belted out her version of "Happier Than Ever" by Billie Eilish.

The 30-year-old singer sported a red top adorned with white hearts paired with cuffed denim jeans and black boots. On the other hand, the "American Idol" winner donned a black long-sleeve shirt completed with a skirt, boots, and a chunky belt.

The pair sang Clarkson's hit 2004 song "Breakaway" and fans expressed their excitement in the comment section of the YouTube video posted by the talk show's official channel.

"This is unbelievably gorgeous. Sam Smith's voice on this is heavenly, especially when they sing "I'll learn how to fly", so gorgeous," one wrote.

"Sam looks like they're living out their childhood dream. Fangirling hard. That was a beautiful duet. Their voices are incredible together," another one wrote.

'Breakaway' Origin

According to People Magazine, the song "Breakaway" was co-written by pop punk princess Avril Lavigne and the track was supposed to be a part of her debut album "Let Go."

In 2004, Clarkson released her own version and it became the official soundtrack of "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement" starring Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews.

The track became a massive success not just in the United States but also around the world, it was later added to the pop star's debut album of the same name.

Lavigne recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of her first album and she released a remastered version of "Breakaway." The only difference between her and Clarkson is the guitar pattern as well as a few lyrics in the first verse.

Many fans have been loving the "Kellyoke" segment on the singer's talk show as she previously sang songs like "Ain't It Fun" by Paramore, "I Got You (I Feel Good)" by James Brown, "Waiting For Tonight" by Jennifer Lopez, and many more.

The fourth season of "The Kelly Clarkson Show" premiered last month and it's expected to run until next year.
