R&B icon Babyface released his highly anticipated album "Girls Night Out" on Oct. 21. The album boasts 13 songs that feature only female collaborators, including the likes of Kehlani, Ari Lennox, Doechii, and more.

Talking about the album, the 64-year-old singer, songwriter, and producer revealed that he is not the centerpiece of the album, "Rather than just writing the songs, I collaborated with other producers and the artists themselves in terms of writing. It gave it a different experience and flavor, which allowed each artist to have their own thing."

"'Girls Night Out' is really more about them than it is about me. They're very independent and have a good idea of who they are, and what they should say...If I'm pushing myself onto it, I don't get them at all."

Babyface, born Kenneth Brian Edmonds, is the genius behind "Breathe Again" by Toni Braxton, and other chart-topping songs.

New Generation Of Women

During his release party, he revealed: "Girls Night Out" to be a "very special album to [him]" as it was a showcase of what was to come next in the music industry-a wave of female artists, musicians, rappers, and more.

"Girls Night Out is a very special project to me because it is the chance to showcase the next up," he shared. "Every girl that was on this album was amazing."

The album opens with "Intro" with Angie Martinez and La La Anthony, followed by "Liquor" with Ari Lennox, "Seamless" with Kehlani, "Keeps On Fallin'" with Ella Mai, "Game Over" with Queen Naija, and "Simple" with Coco Jones.

Tiana Major9 jumped on "Say Less," while Tink worked with the R & B musician for "Whatever." "Don't Even Think About It" features Baby Tate, who was present during the release party,

"G Wagon" was a joint effort between Sevyn Streeter and Tkay Maidza, while the title track "Girls Night Out" was collaborated with Doechii, who just recently dropped her album as well.

Inspiration

Babyface is indeed a seasoned musician and producer because he worked on the album with a tight deadline.

"We have one day to write the song and record it, so it was all in that same chapter," he explained. "We had a day to get to know each other, talk about life, and talk about what you wanna sing about, what's going on in your life, what's something we can write about?"

Although there was actually no deadline, the producer still worked as if it was crunch time, working on the songs "on the spot."

"I wanted to make sure I wasn't staying in the same time period. [...] I also wanted to learn from them as well as being able to grow, myself, in terms of how they flow, the melodies, the lyrics, how they are different today."
