Austin Butler has been earning recognition for his portrayal of Elvis Presley in the "Elvis" movie.

Baz Luhrmann formally offered the musical drama film, "Elvis," featuring the former Disney Channel and Nickelodeon star. Aside from his near-perfect visuals to bring back Presley through the film, Butler also received praise for singing the King of Rock and Roll's songs in the movie.

It was confirmed that he sang in "Elvis," but it was revealed that Presley's real voice was added to it, too.

The young actor, still, perfectly delivered the legendary singer's voice, but he admitted to damaging his vocals in one of the songs.

In an interview (shared by Express UK), Butler revealed that Presley's "Never Been To Spain" left him with a damaged voice since he did not have a powerful cord to sing the track like how the late singer did.

"Singing Never Been to Spain once on set, my voice went out. I lost the mid-range of my voice for a couple of days. Thankfully, it was on a Friday, so we could take the weekend off, so he went on vocal rest and didn't speak for two days to let the vocal cords rest. It's a tough sing!" he went on.

"Never Been To Spain" was one of the two songs he always listened to while on his way to work, with "Polk Salad Annie" as the other.

Austin Butler's Voice Changed After Playing Elvis Presley

Although he was not able to sing everything for the film, Butler gained something after starring in the movie.

In June, he told Elle Australia that he dedicated two years of his life to working on "Elvis." It made him feel like he was having muscular habits, so his mouth "changed."

Butler expressed his gratitude after having the whole experience, but he told fans he expects to sound differently in 20 years.

Aside from his voice, his body also changed, but it caused him to suffer a health scare. He revealed that after wrapping the movie in March 2021, he woke up after feeling excruciating pain. He was then rushed to a hospital, where he was diagnosed with a virus that triggered appendicitis.

The actor did not disclose what exactly the health issue he faced, but it has been worth it as he outshined actors who almost played the role, including Harry Styles and Ansel Elgort.
