Fans were surprised to see Miley perform on stage because they hadn't seen her in a few months. And there might be a reason for it.
According to Radar Online, the "Can't Be Tamed" singer was devastated by the loss of a friend and has been spiraling since her mother and father divorced.
Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish, his wife of over 30 years, divorced in April. The 61-year-old country music star is apparently engaged to Firerose, an Australian songwriter.
The source who talked to the magazine, the "Hannah Montana" actress has never been one to hide from the world, but she's been forced to reconsider her life as a result of all these life-changing occurrences.
"She's had a difficult emotional experience, so after much soul-searching, she decided to take a step back and recalibrate."
Miley Cyrus is well-known for her involvement in a number of dramas. She rose to prominence as a child star and later made news for a number of stunning events, including her 2013 VMA performance and high-profile relationships.
Now, fame has now caught up with her at the age of 29.

She allegedly severed relations with her family, including her mother and father. The sadness of Billy Ray and Tish's divorce threw her into a tailspin.
Another source revealed that Liam Hemsworth's ex-wife is still digesting her father's connection with Firerose, who is younger than him.
Miley wants her father to be happy, but she is also protective of Tish, which is why she feels trapped in the middle.
And the easiest way to deal with this is to remove herself from the situation.
