Paramore officially dropped the second single from their highly-anticipated album "This is Why" earlier this week and many fans have been praising the band for being political and responding on social issues; however, frontwoman Hayley Williams admitted that the group was initially nervous about the release as they didn't know how the public would react.

In a recent interview, the vocalist said they were worried about what people would think about their version of "crying like fake news."

Explaining the song, Williams said the track isn't literal at all, but rather a balance between "apathy and the righteousness rage" that motivates people to make a step.

"And I think in between there is wherever your own mental boundary is to protect your own energy. And that's just a battle that everyone's going to have to figure out on their own what that looks like," she added. (via 94.5 FM The Buzz)

Further explaining their latest single, the singer said they are not typically a "political band" and their latest release isn't mainly political, but she realized that from where she's from, they are positioned not always to view the real side of life.

The track revolves around wanting to do good and as a band that has a big platform, Williams questioned the issues that have been happening around, saying, "How can you ignore it? How can you not say anything?"

How Did 'The News' Begin?

The singer said it all began with a tornado in Nashville then the global pandemic came. Amid the health crisis going on worldwide, the George Floyd incident happened and there have been protests and marches that they attended to.

Since there have been many issues around them, Paramore believes that they're experiencing it from "whatever vantage point" they were at and they have to speak out about the problems.

Today, the vocalist hopes that the lyrics they have written on the song are personal enough to the public's perspective or vantage point.

In early reports, the band dropped the official music video for "The News" and many fans found it terrifying as the visuals mainly revolved around the theme of horror.

In a statement, the frontwoman said this was one of the songs that came together fast and they felt excited right from the beginning. (via Stereogum)
