King Princess has enjoyed commercial success after the release of her debut song "1950" in 2018, but many call her a one-hit-wonder. Despite being recognized and praised for her music, she has been relatively inactive.

Despite many speculations that the singer-songwriter has long since faded into music oblivion, the 24-year-old is doing quite well for herself, especially with a tour coming up in 2023.

According to NME, King Princess is heading to Australia's biggest cities, Melbourne and Sydney, for her very own "The Hold On Baby Tour," after her tour stint with Florence + The Machine.

The singer-songwriter's own show will be in between her shows with Florence + The Machine, on March 11 and 15 in Croxton Brandroom in Melbourne and Metro Theatre in Syndey, respectively.

Fans can see the singer live starting March 4, 2023, at Boorloo, Perth, then in Naarm, Melbourne, Warrang, Sydney, Maenjin, Brisbane, and Tamaki Makaurau, Auckland, with some shows with Florence + The Machine.

The upcoming tour is in support of her most recent studio album "Hold on Baby," released in July 2022.

While this tour marks her first official tour, "Hold on Baby" did not perform quite as well as her debut studio album, "Cheap Queen," released in 2019.

"Cheap Queen" entered several charts in the US as well as the United Kingdom and Australia, however, "Hold on Baby" did not.

Her debut studio album performing well on the charts can be attributed to her songs being widely recognized as Pride anthems, like "1950."

Roots

King Princess, born Mikaela Mullaney Straus, hails from Brooklyn, New York, and is currently signed to Zelig Records, an imprint of Columbia Records, by Mark Ronson.

While she isn't as well-known as other artists in the music game right now, she sure is the creative hand behind multi-awarded singer, Lizzo.

According to reports, King Princess is the creative director for the "About Damn Time" singer, and it appears that Lizzo and King Princess have one main thing in common: their confidence.

According to OtakuKart, the singer announced that she is gay or non-binary, and has little to no regard for which pronouns people refer to her by.

This confidence and background of being queer have mixed and have influenced her music style throughout the years.

She developed a passion for music at a young age and accompanied her father to his recording studio, Mission Sound, where she and her brother gained knowledge on how to play various instruments.

According to reports, King Princess has several idols growing up and draws influence from their music, including Led Zeppelin, T. Rex, Jack White, and more.

As of this writing, King Princess' net worth is estimated at around $1 million.
