Born Elena Jane Goulding on Dec. 30, 1986, in Hereford, Herefordshire to parents Arthur and Tracey, the singer lives with a big family. She has one brother named Alex, and two sisters Jordan and Isabel.
Despite the large family, Goulding experienced heartbreak at a young age when her parents separated at 5 years old. She has also described publicly that her relationship with her mother was "difficult" growing up.
But despite this, Goulding persevered and started playing the clarinet at the young age of 14. By the time she was 15, she was already a budding composer.
Later on, she attended the University of Kent and studied Drama and Theatre Studies. There he met his manager Jamie Lillywhite, who introduced her to Starsmith, who was instrumental in the production of her first album, "Lights."

The reunion with the Royals was a gleeful encounter as Goulding was the wedding singer of the royal couple back in 2011 at their fairy tale wedding.
