Fans were vexed when they found out that a mural of Pop Smoke in Canarsie, Brooklyn was vandalized, but thankfully the late rapper's face in the mural wasn't touched.

According to HipHopDX, the phrase "Woo K" was spraypainted next to Pop Smoke's portrait, which might stand for "Woo Killer."

A picture of the defaced mural was shared via Instagram by DJ Akademiks, with a series of captions.

One read: "Mad dayroom," another "LMFAO Nah this is mad funny!" While the last caption criticized the vandalism, "word to my dead. Y'all n***as are mad childish like WTF."

This isn't the first time people have disrespected the late rapper. In September 2021, Vibe reported that Pop Smoke's grave was vandalized, and there was even an attempt to remove his casket.

Fans took to Twitter to express their frustrations: "this is deada*s so weird bro," a fan wrote.

Another added, "As long as the black community keep his memory alive it will be right."

"People are so disrespectful as well as they don't have love and compassion in there hearts..God sees and hears all .rih Popsmoke, [sic]" another wrote.

"That's messed up but can anyone show me how they vandalized it like what they did."

"Never mess with murals," added a fan.

On the other hand, some netizens couldn't care any less about the defaced mural, "RIP to him but his music wasn't good."

"Why exactly did he gave a mural to begin with?" added another.

Some poked fun at the late rapper's career, noting that he only had two hit songs before his passing. "Why does he have a mural in the first place? Had like 2 songs and they were trash."

"Well, what you expect? It's Brooklyn of course a mural of anyone will get vandalized."

Hometown Mural

The Brooklyn mural, located at 8125 Flatlands Ave. is located in the neighborhood where Pop Smoke was raised.

According to reports, the mural was designed by Hattas Public Murals five months after the late rapper was shot and killed on Feb. 19, 2020.

The art organization unveiled the mural and shared a picture of it via Instagram. The caption read: "Our hearts go out to the family, friends, and fans of the late and beloved Pop Smoke,

"Much love to you all. And thank you to the community of #Canarsie for your overwhelming support as we painted this memorial mural. We are humbled and honored."

Pop Smoke, born Bashar Barakah Jackson, rose to prominence in 2019 with the release of his breakout singles "Welcome to the Party' and "Dior."

He was killed by two men in his own home in Hollywood Hills, reports say. He was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was 20 years old.

A person who was with the Brooklyn rapper recounted his last moments alive: "Pop said he was going upstairs. I'm sitting on the bed and I'm starting to take off my clothes, and he said: 'OK, I'll come back,'" Amelia Rose said. "He was going to the restroom and so these were his last words."
