Not more than a week since Modest Mouse's drummer, Jeremiah Green, passed away, another beloved drummer from the music world passed away on the first few days of January 2023.

Earth, Wind & Fire Drummer Fred White has died at the age of 67, The Hollywood Reporter says.

Verdine White announced Fred White's death on social media last Sunday, Jan. 1, 2022.

"He joins our brothers Maurice, Monte and Ronald in heaven and is now drumming with the angels! Child protege, member of the EWF ORIGINAL 9, with gold records at the young age of 16 years old! He was brother number 4 in the family lineup," he said in a statement.

As of this writing, Fred White's real cause of death remains a mystery, as White's statement did not disclose any more details of his passing. Even the place where he passed away was never revealed.

However, Fred White's cause of death is still attributed to natural causes.

Fred White Biography

Born Frederick Eugene Adams on Jan. 13, 1955, in Chicago, the famed drummer was notably known for being one of the two drummers of Earth, Wind & Fire.

He started drumming at the age of 9 and performed a few times with Linda Ronstadt and Donny Hathaway before joining the famous band in the mid-1970s.

He was the third member of his family to become part of the band, making it a legacy for the three of them. His brother Maurice White and Verdine White were also some of the founding members of the band.

According to Opoyi, Fred White's estimated net worth is reported to be around $1 to $5 million. 

This is attributed to the plenty of albums he worked on with Earth, Wind & Fire throughout the decades.

Among the albums he has worked with is "That's The Way Of The World," "Gratitude," "Spirit," "All n' All," "I AM," "Faces," "Raise!" and "Powerlight," among others. He is also credited on various solo albums from other musicians like Linda Ronstadt's "Heart Like A Wheel," Jennifer Holliday's " Feel My Soul," and even Donny Hathaway's "Extension Of A Man."

After leaving the band in the mid-1980s, Fred White returned to Earth, Wind & Fire for their induction at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
