Remember JoJo?

JoJo is the youngest artist to ever top the Billboard pop charts as a solo act. She accomplished this feat when she was 13 years old.

Jojo Now 2023

It's not unknown how she vanished from the limelight soon after making it big. Has she completely retired now?

Nah.

She reissued her first and second albums with rerecorded vocals in 2018, just after her 28th birthday. She announced the release of several singles leading up to a new album in 2019. She released her fourth studio album, "Good to Know," in May of 2020. She also released her first holiday album titled "December Baby" in December of 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic.

It's safe to say that while she's laying low in her music career, unlike other artists, JoJo has NOT retired. In fact, she is performing on Lovers & Friends Fest 2023!

Career Highlights

Her debut single, "Leave (Get Out)," was certified gold and peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. JoJo was born Joanna Nolle Blagden Levesque on December 20, 1990 in Brattleboro, Vermont, but her family relocated to Keene, New Hampshire, and then Foxborough, Massachusetts, shortly thereafter. Her given name is Joanna Noelle Levesque.

Her parents, Joel and Diana, divorced when she was four, leaving her to grow up in a small apartment with one bedroom. Subsequently, her mother raised her. In 2009, when she graduated from high school, she was accepted to Northeastern University to study cultural anthropology, but she ultimately decided not to enroll. Her parents were both music lovers, and her mother had formal training in musical theater and sang in the church choir. JoJo began singing at age two and also enjoyed performing in community theater productions. She appeared on "Kids Say the Darndest Things," "Destination Stardom," "The Oprah Winfrey Show," and "Maury" beginning at age seven.

JoJo Net Worth 2023

The net worth of American R&B/pop singer-songwriter and actress JoJo is $7 million.

JoJo's appearances on various reality television programs resulted in notoriety and further additions. Vincent Herbert contacted her after she competed on "America's Most Talented Kids" and asked her to audition for Blackground Records. At age 12, she was signed to the label in 2003. In 2004, she began work on her debut album and released her first single, "Leave (Get Out)." The single quickly topped the Mainstream Top 40 chart, and at the age of 13, JoJo became the youngest solo artist in the United States to have a number-one single. She also embarked on a nine-mall tour with Ryan Cabrera, Busted, and Fefe Dobson prior to the release of her album.

2004 saw the release of JoJo's self-titled debut album, which debuted at number four on the Billboard 200. She received nominations for Female New Artist of the Year and Mainstream Top 40 Single of the Year at the Billboard Music Awards, making her the youngest artist ever to receive nominations. The album was later certified gold after selling more than three million copies to date. In 2006, she starred alongside Emma Roberts and Sara Paxton in the film Aquamarine. She starred opposite Robin Williams in "RV," which debuted at number one that same year. In 2006, she also released her second album, "The High Road," which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and received positive reviews. In only one week, the lead single "Too Little Too Late" jumped from number 66 to number three on the charts, breaking the record for the largest chart jump. The album received a gold certification in December of 2006. In 2009, while working on her third album, JoJo was released from her contract due to a dispute with her record label.

However, the album's release was repeatedly delayed, even after JoJo released several singles and announced its title. JoJo filed a lawsuit against Blackground Records in 2013, alleging irreparable harm to her career. She was ultimately released from her contract and signed with Atlantic Records. She never released her third album as originally planned, instead releasing "Mad Love" in 2016. She also embarked on a tour as the opening act for Fifth Harmony, in addition to her own Mad Love tour. In 2017, JoJo left Atlantic and announced the launch of her own music label, Clover Music.
