Ozzy Osbourne and Brandi Carlile dominated the Rock and Metal category at the 2023 Grammy Awards.

Osbourne got a total of four nominations for his most recent album, "Patient Number 9," which went two for four at last Sunday's Grammy Awards.

Osbourne took home the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance for "Degradation Rules," a collaboration he had with Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi.

This was not the first time that Osbourne won an award in this category. In 1994, Osbourne won with "I Don't Want to Change the World" from his album "No More Tears."

Aside from Metal Performance, Osbourne was triumphant in taking home the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. He beat out The Black Keys' "Dropout Boogie," IDLES' "Crawler," Elvis Costello & The Imposters' "The Boy Named If," Machine Gun Kelly's "Mainstream Sellout," and Spoon's "Lucifer on the Sofa."

This was the first time that Osbourne won in the category. Although Black Sabbath was nominated for "13" last 2014, Led Zeppelin's "Celebration Day" won the award for it.

Following his huge win in the category, Osbourne was very expressive in his celebration of joy for the award.

"I'm one lucky motherf-er to have won the 'best rock album' Grammy. I was blessed to work with some of the greatest musicians in the world and [producer] Andrew Watt was my producer on this album," Osbourne said in a statement.

For him, the huge win was "equally gratifying" because he won with the help of his longtime friend Iommi on the track. The huge win gave Osbourne, 74, his fourth and fifth Gramophone in his musical career.

Brandi Carlile Grammy Awards 2023

On the other hand, Brandi Carlile swept the remaining two awards from the Rock category at the 2023 Grammy Awards.

Carlile won Best Rock Performance and Best Rock song for "Broken Horses." She was also triumphant in the Americana genre as her album, "In These Silent Days," won Best Americana album.

This was the first time that Carlile snagged a win at the Rock categories, as she has only submitted and won in the Americana and Country genres in the past.

Last year, Carlile expressed opposing sentiments to The Recording Academy after she had her song "Right on Time," recategorized in the Best Pop Solo Performance category, despite being a Folk rock song.
