SZA is on the top of the world.

Her long-awaited sophomore studio album 'SOS' is a major success, her music is topping the charts, and everyone is obsessed with "Kill Bill."

So it's simply a no-brainer that SZA was named this year's Woman of the Year by Billboard.

"Since she burst onto the scene in 2017, SZA has defied genres and continually released raw, powerful songs which have landed her music on the Billboard charts," wrote Billboard's editorial director, Hannah Karp.

"The release of her latest album, SOS, has solidified her as a distinct force in contemporary R&B, and catapulted her into superstardom. We can't wait to honor her as Woman of the Year."

The 33-year-old singer will be awarded at the YouTube Theater at Hollywood Park in Los Angeles on Mar. 1; that's when Billboard will be honoring not just SZA but women in the music industry as a whole.

The Billboard Women in Music Awards 2023 will be hosted by actress Quinta Brunson and it will honor the following artists: Becky G, Lana Del Rey, Ivy Queen, Kim Petras, Latto, Laney Wilson, and K-POP girl group TWICE.

"We're thrilled to recognize these groundbreaking artists across genres and generations who are defining today's sound - and paving the way for tomorrow's women in music," Karp said in a statement.

Who is SZA and What is She Known For?

SZA began her music career a little over a decade ago by creating music with some close friends and neighbors.

It wasn't until 2012 that she finally self-released her debut EP, "See.SZA.Run," followed by "S," her second EP.

In 2017, she dropped "Ctrl," her debut studio album. Despite being somewhat new to the game, SZA managed to rope in some of the industry's biggest stars like Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, Isaiah Rashad, and James Fauntleroy as collaborators.

"Ctrl" was received positively by both fans and critics. Pitchfork gave it an 8.4 out of 10, Exclaim! A 9 out of 10, Consequence of Sound a B plus, while it received a five-star rating from AllMusic.

It placed second on Billboard's 50 Best Albums of 2017: Critics' Picks, The New York Times The Best Albums of 2017, and Uproxx's 50 Best Albums of 2017.

It was a long wait until SZA finally released her sophomore studio album, "SOS," but fans noted that it was definitely worth the wait.

"SOS" saw collaborations with Travis Scott, Phoebe Bridgers, Don Toliver, and the late Dirty Ol' Bastard.

Upon its release, the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and broke the record for the largest streaming week for an R&B album in the country.

One of the album's singles "Kill Bill" became a fan favorite, and it topped several music charts, reports say.
