Brothers Vinnie Paul and Dimebag made massive contributions to Pantera, that the band would have been different without them.
Pantera's surviving members, Philip Anselmo and Rex Brown will work with Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante for a world tour under the rock band's name. They will visit cities and venues in South America, Europe, Asia, and North America while supporting Metallica on its scheduled North American stadium tour.
Ahead of the shows, former Sepultura and current Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera opened up about Pantera "not being Pantera" without the brothers, Vinnie Paul and Dimebag.
Speaking about Pantera's comeback tour in an interview on Rock Interview Series, Cavalera said the late brothers are irreplaceable.
"It's so tough, because [on] one hand I understand that the fans wanna see it, and you still have somewhat a big part of that band, but you are missing two key elements on the brothers that are irreplaceable, in my eyes. So it's tough. It's really tough," he said.
The singer added that it's strange that they call the band Pantera instead of calling it like some kind of tribute to Pantera. He then said he does not really think there is a way Pantera can be the same without the brothers.
His recent comment resonated with his previous statement during his appearance on the "Appetite For Distortion" podcast. At that time, he said that Pantera's reformation is cool and great, but it is no longer an original thing.
Pantera Losing Vinnie Paul, Dimebag "Sucks"
While Cavalera has been friends with Anselmo for years, he reportedly looked at Pantera from a fan's point of view.
As he grew up loving the rock band, he felt it was a unique experience to see them perform. But when Vinnie Paul and Dimebag died, he felt something massive changed.

Vinnie Paul was found dead in his Las Vegas home on June 22, 2018. Las Vegas' KTNV reported that the Pantera drummer died of dilated cardiomyopathy. The authorities revealed that his death was not suspicious and that he medically died when police responded to his home.
His death occurred years following his brother Dimebag's murder case. A young, obsessed fan shot and killed the rocker and three other people during Damageplan's show in Columbus, Ohio, in 2004.
