Amid her absence in the music industry, Hewitt is about to return to acting with the upcoming sequel of her hit 1997 movie with Freddie Prinze Jr., "I Know What You Did Last Summer."

Deadline received tops from insiders who claimed that the project is in early development. The original producer Neal H. Moritz is reportedly in talks to return to produce the film, while Leah McKendrick is responsible for the script.

The buzz, however, started after Amazon attempted to reboot the franchise with a series but got canceled after one season in 2021.
