Elvis Presley was a superstar, performer, and all-around entertainer; he spared nothing to make sure everyone had a great time in his shows.

This was the expectation and standard that was expected of Austin Butler when he got the coveted role in the biopic "Elvis" and he delivered.

However, the high energy and demanding role eventually took its toll on the actor, who revealed that he was rushed to the hospital a day after filming wrapped up.

"I didn't get sick the entire time I filmed, but the day that I finished, I ended up in the emergency room," Butler told People magazine during his red carpet appearance at the SAG Awards.

However, the actor was eager and willing enough to quickly get back up and go to another project after his downtime.

"So I spent a week in bed and then I went to this other job," he continued.

This is not the first time Butler talked about getting hospitalized after filming "Elvis," in May 2022, he spoke about it.

"My body just started shutting down the day after I finished Elvis," he said.

On top of that, he also lost his voice during filming: "We did so many takes. And at a certain point, I just lost my voice. So then I went on vocal rest for a couple days, and I was able to come back."

Furthermore, because most of the filming for "Elvis" was done during the throes of the Covid-19 pandemic, the actor wasn't really allowed to go see his family.

"You get through it all," Butler remarked. "There was those days, but it was the greatest ride of my life."

From Coveted Role to Celebrated Role

All the sacrifices he made for "Elvis" eventually paid off, of course, because after the biopic's release, he was nominated numerous times for several awards.

In 2022, he won Best Breakthrough Performer at the Atlanta Film Critics Circles, Best Lead Actor at the AACTA Awards, Most Promising Performer at the Chicago Film Critics Association, and several others.

The following year was no different; he won Best Actor at the AACTA International Awards, Best Actor in a Leading Role at the British Academy Film Awards, a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture under the drama category, Best Breakthrough Performance at the North Carolina Film Critics Association, Breakthrough Performance Award from Palm Springs International Film Festival, and Breakthrough Artist from the San Diego Film Critics Society.
