Aaron Carter's friends think something was "off" regarding his death.

Carter's mother, Jane Schneck, released never-before-scene photos of the death scene where the singer was found. After she urged the police and investigators to do further investigation, his friends also shared a similar sentiment as they believe it should be looked into as a "potential homicide."

In an exclusive interview with Page Six, Carter's friends Morgan Matthews and Bryan Cassidy said thing "doesn't add up" after they learned about how his body was found.

"He would always be paranoid about people being after him or [that] somebody is after him," Cassidy said. "[How Aaron's body was found] gave me suspicion too because I was like, 'Wait a minute, was he paranoid or was he not?' I don't want to point fingers, but it just doesn't add up."

Matthews, who also served as Carter's manager, told the publication that the "Leave It Up to Me" singer was around the wrong people. He added that the crooner would always talk about his paranoia when they were working on music together.

Per Matthews, his late friend told him he needed help and that he needed to leave the town because people were after him.

He added that Carter had been trying to leave for a long time as he also put his house for sale years ago.

What Aaron Carter's Mother Said About His Death

Cassidy and Matthews' comments came days after Carter's mother shared an update on Facebook on March 1, saying that she was still trying to have a real investigation into his death. She alleged that the police never investigated the event as a possible crime-related occurrence and based their findings on the singer's past struggles with addiction alone.

She also shared exclusive graphic and disturbing photos of the death scene, saying that they show signs that a "crime" happened and not an overdose.

Like Carter's friends, the matriarch believes that people had been wanting to harm him for a long time, noting that there were people who were harassing him online.

Meanwhile, on-again-off-again fiancée, Melanie Martin, revealed to a news outlet months after Carter's death that the singer and an unidentified person exchanged text messages regarding an alleged drug deal days before his passing.

The suspected drug dealer attempted to collect $800 from Carter, and the family started believing that the unknown substance was probably the one that ultimately killed him.

Aaron Carter started his career when he was 9 when he served as the opening for Backstreet Boys' Berlin show in 1997. He officially signed a record contract in the same year, prompting him to release his first-ever single, "Crush On You."
