Channel Tres named the singer who, he thinks, is the Queen of Pop - and it's not Madonna.

Tres dropped his highly-anticipated EP, "Real Cultural Shit," via Godmode and RCA Records. He also has a hectic schedule in the next few months, with his most recent appearances being at the M3F and CRSSD festivals.

Speaking with Interview Magazine, the 31-year-old "take your time" rapper revealed some of his personal favorites, including his queen of pop.

Instead of Madonna, Tress said Aretha Franklin's name. The famed singer, who died on Aug. 16, 2018, was famous as the Queen of Soul, though. She passed away in Detroit following her battle with a malignant pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (pNET).

Some of her hit studio albums were "Aretha: With the Ray Bryant Combo," "The Electrifying Aretha Franklin," "The Tender, the Moving, the Swinging Aretha Franklin," "Unforgettable: A Tribute to Dinah Washington," "I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You," "This Girl's in Love with You," "Hey Now Hey (The Other Side of the Sky)," "Who's Zoomin' Who?," "What You See Is What You Sweat," "This Christmas, Aretha," and "Aretha: A Woman Falling Out of Love," among others.

She dropped her last studio album, "Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics," in 2014.

Tres named Franklin as the Queen of Pop as other musicians also named their own in the past years.

Lizzo selected Janet Jackson as the Queen of Pop on Twitter in 2021, causing her fans to trend the term "Queen of Pop" as they shared who truly deserved the crown.

Why Madonna Is the Queen of Pop

Several publications have approved Madonna as the Queen of Pop for decades. As for the reason why she got the title, they explained how her career and milestones always do the talking for her.

The Michigan native was a college dropped out who pursued a dancing career. Her first known job as a backup singer and dancer was when she worked for Patrick Hernandez in 1979. She soon formed her band, Breakfast Club, with her then-boyfriend Dan Gilroy.

After Breakfast Club, she formed another band Emmy before starting her solo career with her debut single, "Everybody." She rose to fame even more when she released her second single, "Burning Up."

The arrival of "Live a Virgin" started helping her strengthen her career in the music industry. From there, she released more records and garnered accolades that made him the Queen of Pop now.
