The 2023 Eurovision Song Contest will take place in the United Kingdom as Ukraine, the winning country last year, bowed out of the responsibilities due to the ongoing war with Russia.

Since then, the conversation on where in the United Kingdom the show will be held has been in huge debate. But after careful consideration, it was agreed that the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest would be held at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool from May 9 - 13, 2023.

UK Eurovision 2023 Entry

According to NME, the United Kingdom has finally selected its entry for the highly-anticipated competition.

London-born singer-songwriter Mae Muller was selected to represent the United Kingdom at the upcoming 2023 Eurovision Song Contest. He follows first-runner-up Sam Ryder as the country's representative at the international singing competition.

Per BBC, it was Muller's "dream" to compete at the Eurovision.

To compete in such a massive music competition is simply brilliant," she said in a statement following her selection.

She was selected in the same manner as how Ryder was selected last year.

Who is Mae Muller? The UK Eurovision Contestant

Formally known as Holly Mae Muller, the 25-year-old singer-songwriter was born in the same year that the United Kingdom last won a Eurovision trophy - in 1997.

Muller was born in Kentish Town, London, and has been pursuing music since she was younger, ditching her day job to sing in pubs downtown. She attended Fine Arts College in Belsize Park, north London.

According to Muller, her musical influences were The Chicks, Gwen Stefani, and Simon & Garfunkel, and she credits Lily Allen's debut album, "Alright, Still," as a pivotal moment in her life.

Muller has already released a studio album titled "Chapter 1" via Capitol Records in 2019.

She was included in the song "Better Days" by the Swedish music collective Neiked G, along with Polo G. The song reached No. 32 on the UK Singles Chart and was certified Silver by the British Phonographic Industry.

Mae Muller's Eurovision 2023 song is titled "I Wrote A Song," which is expected to hit the charts shortly after she performs it in the competition.

Elsewhere in her interview with BBC, Muller said that this opportunity is a big one for her, especially with the platform that comes along with it.

"This is obviously such a level up from anything I've ever done, and I can really feel it. You've got to go big and you've got to do it right," Muller said.
