Former Artillery drummer, Josua Madsen, died after getting involved in a tragic accident. He was 45.

SN.dk first reported about Madsen's death, confirming that Artillery's longtime drummer succumbed after being hit by a bus between Copenhagen and Roskilde, Denmark, Wednesday.

According to the publication, the drummer - who recently joined a new band after leaving Artillery - just finished rehearsing with his new group that night. He usually walked from Høje Taastrup Station and home to Vridsløsemagle, where he and his family resides.

On the night of the accident, he was hit by a bus on a dark country road around 9:46 p.m.

The news outlet said there were no streetlights and sidewalks on Snubbekorsvej. Pedestrians only walk on the edge of the road. Despite that and the country's 80 kph speed limit, the accident left Madsen dead.

Artillery's official Facebook page released a photo that contains the band's statement regarding Madsen's death. It has a photo of the late drummer playing the instrument in one of their shows.

"Dear Josua. For the last ten years, you have been a part of our extended family," the statement reads. "We have played, fought, laughed, and cried together and looked to the future alongside appreciating our now. You had a kind spirit and a big heart."

Artillery sent its thoughts and prayers to his bereaved family as it wished its former bandmate peace and join wherever he is.

Madsen was survived by his teenage son, Alexander, who he has been taking care of alone as a single father.

Josua's mother, Joan Junggren, broke her silence following the tragic event. She recalled how fantastic a single father her son was to Alexander, noting that the father-and-son tandem was inseparable.

The family is yet to confirm details regarding his funeral and memorial services.

Josua Madsen's Career, Legacy

Madsen's career with Artillery only lasted for less than a year, but he made massive contributions to the band and music industry as a drummer.

The musician joined the band in 2012, and he became part of its four studio albums and one compilation album: "My Blood," "Legions," "Penalty by Perception," "The Face of Fear," "In the Trash," and "X."
