Fans were saddened when it was initially announced that Lady Gaga will not be performing at the Oscars this year. However, many were shocked when the Academy revealed on the same day of the event that the pop star would belt her nominated song "Hold My Hand."

More recently, a producer of the Academy Awards detailed how Mother Monster became available at the last minute, saying he received a message from the pop star at four in the morning.

According to executive producer Ricky Kirshner, who spoke to The Hollywood Reporter, he had built his relationship with the Grammy Award-winning singer over the years as they previously worked at her Super Bowl Halftime Show and her "Shallow" performance with Bradley Cooper.

At first, Lady Gaga was extremely busy with her schedule as she's currently filming the highly-anticipated "Joker" sequel titled "Folie à Deux" with Joaquin Phoenix. However, she truly wanted to do something for the star-studded event.

"And Thursday, at four-something, we got a text that she wanted to try something, didn't have time to put together a big performance, but wanted it to be raw and people to see the real Gaga, and, with a voice like that, you don't need much more than that," the producer revealed. (via Billboard)

On the day of the ceremony, Lady Gaga walked the Oscars red carpet in full glam wearing a black gown from Versace's latest collection.

Many were anticipating the musician to present a grand performance because she's popularly known for her theatrics. However, the audience was shocked to see the pop star without makeup and only wearing a black T-shirt paired with ripped jeans.

Mother Monster also introduced herself before belting out "Hold My Hand" from the movie "Top Gun: Maverick."

"It's deeply personal for me, and I think that we all need each other. We need a lot of love to walk through this life," she said.

After performing, Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, received a standing ovation from the crowd, marking this the fourth time she received the honor from attendees.

Prior to this year's show, the "House of Gucci" actress had already performed a few times in the past. Her first one was a tribute to "The Sound of Music," while the other two are her performances of "'Til It Happens To You" and "Shallow."
