Evanescence's vocalist Amy Lee still feels the same way to the band's "Bring Me To Life" two decades after it was released - and it became worse.

"Bring Me To Life" immediately brought Evanescence to fame when the band released the Amy Lee-written song from its debut studio album, "Fallen." The frontwoman wrote the track when she was 19, and its lyrics immediately caught the public's attention.

Despite being a perfect track, the band's label applied a rap section by Paul McCoy of 12 Stones - something Lee and her bandmates never felt okay with.

The vocalist recently sat for an interview with Metal Hammer and spoke about her and the band's dislike for the rap part.

"I stopped performing it a long time ago. We never really did perform it. When we're on tour and we have somebody that fits into that spot, they jump up on the song," she said. "We were on tour with P.O.D and we had Sonny [Sandoval, vocalist] get up a few times."

However, Lee clarified that Evanescence would still have McCoy come up if they would ever be in the same town.

Still, the vocalist reaffirmed her dislike for the segment, saying it is not her style. She revealed that it was the reason why it became a hard pill to swallow, though they still won as the band did not had to change the whole song.

"Bring Me To Life" ranked first on several weekly and year-end charts, including ARIA, Billboard, European Hot 100 Singles, FIMI, and OCC.

"Bring Me To Life" Topped iTunes

Although Evanescence has not performed the song, the band made wonders as the iconic song topped the iTunes chart in 2022.

On its Facebook page, the band celebrated the milestone by sharing photos of the chart and the album cover.

"19 years and still going strong! Bring Me To Life is #1 on iTunes," the band wrote. "Thank you for the love!"

Nicki Minaj's "Super Freaky Girl," Doc McLean's "American Pie," and BLACKPINK's "Pink Venom" appeared after the song.

As of press time, Evanescence remains one of the best-selling hard rock and metal artists of all time after selling 31.9 million albums as of August 2022. Evanescence currently plays with Muse on the band's North American tour before its scheduled appearance in several festivals, including Sick New World Festival, Welcome to Rockville festival, Download Festival's 20th anniversary, and Blue Ridge Rock Festival, among others.
