Happy birthday, Enrique Iglesias! The singer is known to be one of the most popular Spanish singers in the world having several hits under his belt. In honor of the singer's celebration, let's take a look at his early life, career, and recent album.

Born Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler on May 8, 1975, in Madrid, Spain, he is now 48 years old! Long before he was welcomed to the world, his parents, Julio Iglesias, and Isabel Preysler, were already renowned on their separate careers.

Julio is a known Spanish singer while Preysler is a Filipina journalist and socialite.

Like his son, Julio was also previously recognized as being one of the most successful European singers who took the world stage.

Enrique Iglesias Music Career + Net Worth

Since his father is also a known singer at the time, Enrique didn't want him to know his plans of having a music career. He also didn't want to use his surname in order to gain popularity in an instant.

Instead, he went with the stage name Enrique Martinez. During the 1990s, he was able to borrow money from his nanny's family to record a demo cassette tape featuring one Spanish song and two English songs. (via CBS News)

In order to hide his identity even more, he told producers that he came from Guatemala instead of his home country. He later struck a deal with Fonovisa Records.

Following this, a string of successful albums were released, leading him to earn a whopping $100 million net worth as of 2023.

Aside from his booming career, he also has a successful love life as he started dating Tennis player Anna Kournikova in 2001. They share fraternal twins Lucy and Nicholas, and a daughter named Mary. (via People Magazine)

Enrique Iglesias Last Album Ever?

In 2021, Enrique shocked fans when he announced that his eleventh album titled "Final" would be his last record, at least for now.

In an announcement during a live stream with Ricky Martin and Sebastian Yatra, the musician said the "Final" album was something that he had been thinking about for years as he'd been considering retiring since 2015.

Fans shouldn't be sad as the Spanish hitmaker clarified that he will never stop making music, saying, "I'll never stop writing songs because I love it, but I'll do it in a different way." (via Hola)
