Boys Like Girls will break its decade-long hiatus through a new single and album.

Fans have been waiting for a long time since Boys Like Girls started its hiatus in 2011 before dropping its final album, "Crazy World," in 2012. After years of waiting, the fandom came back to life.

Boys Like Girls Confirms New Single, Album

On Boys Like Girls' official Instagram page, the band posted a reel featuring its members.

Martin Johnson can be seen speaking into a studio mic while holding his phone to read the notes. He recalls singing songs from the band's first album and feeling like the tracks he wrote when he was still a teen felt like they were no longer his. Instead, the songs reportedly start to feel like they belong to everyone who listens to them.

While he started to work for other musicians, including Ariana Grande and Avril Lavigne since the hiatus started, Johnson admitted to finding himself creating a new song for a secret playlist.

He then opened up about Boys Like Girls' new single "Blood and Sugar," which is due on Friday, revealing that he played an early demo of it for drummer John Keefe and guitarist Gregory James in 2020.

After getting Keefe's approval, Johnson started to think about releasing the track.

"I spend most of the time trying to fill that hole with perfection. But in the end, nobody's perfect. Only blood and sugar," he went on. "And that, I suppose is the inner DNA of the song that pulled us back into the studio together for Boys Like Girls. The song we want to meet you all again with."

Although he already confirmed the release of its new single, Johnson did not disclose the exact release date of the yet-to-be-titled album. However, he noted that the band slated it for release in the fall.

Boys Like Girls Reunited For a Tour

Months before confirming its new material, Boys Like Girls successfully held its first US tour in six years and expanded it to an Asian tour.

The "Great Escape" hitmaker marked its 10th anniversary with the tour, starting the trek on Sep. 21 in Nashville. The band also visited Australia, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and cities in California and Nevada for the tour.

Boys Like Girls is yet to confirm whether it will launch another tour as part of its new album.
