David Coverdale opened up about whether he would release his autobiography after previously talking about its potential title.

The Whitesnake frontman has been hinting at his potential autobiography for years and even temporarily titled the material "How White Was My Snake?" But even after the long talks, his plans remain nothing but an idea for now.

David Coverdale Rules Out Autobiography Release

Coverdale spoke candidly about his plans during his recent interview with "Paltrocast" host Darren Paltrowitz. The former Deep Purple member said he is not interested in releasing an autobiography since he does not want "to hurt anybody."

According to the vocalist, he would call his book "Soldier of Fortune" if he ever plans to release one soon. It is based on the famous song he wrote with Ritchie Blackmore.

He added how his wife thought making "How White Was My Snake?" might be too diminishing to his legacy, clarifying that it is not the only reason he cannot write one.

"[But] the problem is I can't do it, 'cause I can't not be honest about this, that and the other, who's the inspiration [for] this song, who was that," he said. "It would be a spilling of the beans, which I'm not interested in hurting anybody, and particularly my family."

Instead of a biography, Coverdale revealed he is thinking about a different way or concept to make his story-telling more interesting.

The host told Coverdale that there is a "mystique" surrounding his personal life, but the singer clarified that he only does not want to pretend to be somebody he is not. He firmly added that he still embraces his privacy and cherishes the private community that protects even his family's privacy.

David Coverdale Finds Writing an Autobiography Uninteresting

Previously, Coverdale expressed his lack of interest in doing an autobiography during a conversation with Antihero magazine. During the 2021 interview, he spoke candidly about not feeling interested in writing his story since he needs to be brutally honest - which could damage some relationships.

In 2013, he told RockSverige that he does not have time and enthusiasm to write one since he was expected to name names to complete his book.

Currently, he is focusing on his health after Whitesnake canceled its European and North American tour dates due to the vocalist's persistent upper respiratory infection. It remains unknown when the band will resume the tour, but Coverdale's bandmate Reb Beach has also missed several shows since 2022 due to health-related issues.
