It has been verified that Tina Turner died of natural causes at her home in Switzerland.

The legendary singer passed away at the age of 83 in Küsnach, near Zurich, after a protracted illness of unknown nature. She had previously fought intestinal cancer and suffered from hypertension for more than four decades.

Tina Turner Cause of Death Verified

The Queen of Rock 'n' Roll's representatives verified to DailyMail.com that she died of natural causes.

On May 24, they shared the sorrowful news of her passing.

Following Turner's passing, her autobiography resurfaced, in which she admitted to considering assisted suicide in 2016 before her spouse Erwin Bach donated a kidney to save her life.

She revealed in her autobiography that she joined an assisted suicide organization in order to mentally prepare herself for death. Turner had discovered that her uncontrolled hypertension had accelerated the damage to her kidneys, and if her body was going to shut down, she began making peace with the concept of death.

In 2017, her spouse Bach donated one of his kidneys to her. Tina Turner's untimely death was declared on May 24 - sending shockwaves around the globe - but the cause of her passing was previously unknown. In 1978, Turner was diagnosed with hypertension, and in 2016 she was diagnosed with intestinal cancer. Simultaneously, her kidneys were deteriorating, which led to her 2017 transplant surgery.

Tina Turner Did NOT Fear Death

On April 9, 2023, in what are believed to be her final public comments, she told The Guardian how she wished to be remembered by the world and how she did not fear mortality. She was asked how she would like to be remembered and she said as the Rock 'n' Roll Queen and as a woman who demonstrated that it is acceptable for women to pursue success on their own terms.

When asked what scares her about aging, she responded, "Nothing." She explained that life is a grand endeavor, and she embraces and accepts every day as it comes.

Turner is survived by two of her four sons; the other two predeceased her. Her husband, Erwin Bach, is 67 years old. The couple wed in 2013 after nearly 30 years of dating. Turner, who was born Anna-Mae Bullock in Brownsville, Tennessee, in 1939 to Zelma and Floyd Bullock, surmounted a troubled childhood and an abusive marriage to become a musical phenomenon and legendary performer.

In her early twenties, she rose to prominence with the Ike and Tina Turner Revue, a live performance she performed with her ex-husband. In spite of their apparent prosperity and marital happiness, she was subjected to brutal abuse throughout their marriage. They split up in 1978.

Turner, determined to flourish on her own and responsible for raising four sons, shocked fans and the media by speaking publicly about the abuse.
