Rihanna is making a huge touchdown this year as her 2023 Super Bowl performance has raised its nominations to five! She was recently nominated for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) as she executive produced the show along with Jay-Z.

However, Rihanna winning an Emmy for the category might be an uphill battle because she faces Elton John, who's due for an Emmy to achieve EGOT status, in the same category.

Rihanna Super Bowl Performance Emmy Nominations

As the 2023 Emmy Awards nominees were announced earlier today, the internet is celebrating Rihanna as her highly-acclaimed Super Bowl Performance was nominated five times this year!

Among the nominations she received was for the production of the show.

Rihanna's laudable technical stage was nominated for Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special (Area), going head to head with "Encanto" at the Hollywood Bowl, The Carol Burnett Special, The 95th Oscars, and the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.

Jay-Z was also nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special along with Hamish Hamilton in directing the said Rihanna Super Bowl Performance.

Emmy-winning Musical Director Adam Blackstone and Omar Edwards are also nominated for Outstanding Music Direction as well as the entire camera team got a nod for Outstanding Technical Direction and Camerawork For A Special.

Lastly, Rihanna earned her first Emmy Award nomination as she executive produced her own Super Bowl Performance with Jay-Z. They are both in the running for the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category. (via The Hollywood Reporter)

The last category might earn Rihanna her first Emmy Award as she could very well outperform Chris Rock's "Selective Outrage," the 95th Oscars, and the 76th Tony Awards. However, her biggest opponent yet would be "Elton John's Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium."
