Ian Emes, popularly known for being a film director and filmmaker who worked with several legendary music acts such as Duran Duran, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, and more, has passed away at the age of 73.

According to Talk 1470, the British artist's passing was confirmed by Pink Floyd on their official Twitter account. However, his cause of death remains a mystery as it was not announced in the post.

The band shared a photo of the film director edited in a trippy way. In the caption, the band wrote, "Our sincere condolences to his family and friends."

Pink Floyd then recalled some of their works together such as the animated film "French Windows."

It was also reported that Emes created some of the animated visuals that the group uses for their concerts.

"His unforgettable animation for other Floyd songs such as the spinning clock faces of Time, and the heartbeat of Speak To Me, were mainstays of the band's concerts for many years," they wrote.

Regarding one of their final projects, the late artist created a 55-minute film for the band's "The Endless River."

According to the outlet, the filmmaker studied at the Birmingham College of Art. One of his earliest projects was the "French Windows" which caught the attention of Rick Wright after it was played on "
"Old Grey Whistle Test" on the BBC.

In a previous interview with the Birmingham Post, Emes said Pink Floyd called him immediately and couldn't believe they contacted him.

At first, he thought he did something wrong, but they eventually became comfortable with each other which led him to rent a preview theater somewhere in London and all members arrived to watch the movie he created.

Following this, Pink Floyd commissioned him to work on some of their projects.

Ian Emes Also Worked With Paul, Linda McCartney

In addition to the band, Emes also had a professional relationship with Paul McCartney and his former partner, Linda McCartney, for the project "The Oriental Nightfish."

"I got pissed on whisky and put the music on as loud as it would go, and lay on my back in the living room and let it wash over me," the artist recalled of the project he worked on with them.
