They say that art is supposed to invoke feelings in the audience, is this why some songs become chart-toppers because they are so moving?

Billboard just compiled what they think is the list of most controversial No. 1 hits, and fans have some opinions about it.

Starting with the most recent one, Jason Aldean's "Try That in a Small Town." The country music singer rocked the internet after dropping the song as well as its accompanying music video, which netizens claim to have themes of racism.

At the time, Aldean explained that the song is about growing up in a small town, and the unspoken rules that come with it.

"'Try That in a Small Town,' for me, refers to the feeling of a community that I had growing up, where we took care of our neighbors, regardless of differences of background or belief," he said.

"My political views have never been something I've hidden from, and I know that a lot of us in this country don't agree on how we get back to a sense of normalcy where we go at least a day without a headline that keeps us up at night. But the desire for it to-that's what this song is about."

According to reports, other than the tone-deafness of the music video, the song also included hints of gun violence.

"Raciscm solely propelling that song from No. 1 is nasty," a netizen wrote about Billboard placing Aldean's "Try That in a Small Town" at the top spot.

Other songs included in Billboard's list is Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's "WAP," which is the fan favorite of the list.

"I think the only one I recognize is 'WAP'," a fan wrote.

"Why is 'WAP' not number one?"

Another song included is Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl," which pretty much sums up what the song is about, as well as Lil Nas X's "Montero (Call Me by Your Name)."

Other fans suggested several songs they deemed controversial, like "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke, or "Anaconda" by Nicki Minaj.

However, there was one key takeaway in the discussion about the list: "Moral of the story: being insane gets you to the top."
