Because of the backlash and controversy of Jason Aldean's "Try That In A Small Town," it reached a new peak at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The recent movement on the genre-blending singles chart cemented the Country music genre's domination this year in the music industry.

Jason Aldean Billboard Hot 100

After two decades in his career, Jason Aldean finally got his very first Hot 100 No. 1 with the controversial "Try That In A Small Town." After initially hitting No. 2 last week after the release of its music video, the song climbed one spot higher, lynching Jungkook and Latto's "Seven."

According to Billboard, the song amassed 30.7 million streams, which is an increase in 165%, 8.8 million radio airplay, and 175,000 digital copies dold.

Likewise, the song also peaked on the Digital Song Sales chart, as it catapulted to No. 3 on the Streaming Songs chart. However, it dipped to No. 25 on the Country Airplay Chart. He also rules the Hot Country Songs chart.

Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs Billboard Hot 100

Meanwhile, Morgan Wallen's "Last Night," a former chart leader, climbed back to No. 2. It is still Billboard's Songs of the Summer chart-topper. Luke Combs' "Fast Car" consequently climbed back up to No. 3.

With Aldean, Wallen, and Combs occupying the first three spots on the charts, it is now considered a historic accomplishment for the country music genre as a first for the Billboard Hot 100 since its inception in 1958.

Billboard initially reported that Country music has experienced a surge this year in the United States. In fact, data revealed that it was up 20.3% in the first 26 weeks of 2023, growing 2.5% on last year's genre consumption.

Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs Vying For Grammy Domination?

As for Wallen and Combs, their tracks might also help boost Country music more as they have been projected as front runners on the Grammy Award for Record of the Year nomination.

Should they both be nominated, it would be the first time in 46 years that two Country music hits would be recognized in the prestigious category.

It was in 1977 when five country hits were nominated for Record of the Year - Crystal Gayle's "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue," Linda Ronstadt's "Blue Bayou," and Debby Boone's "You Light Up My Life." Since then, no two country hits or more were nominated in the said category.
