Bruce Guthro has reportedly died at the age of 62 just days after celebrating his birthday.

Though he hailed from Canada, he gained fame as lead singer for Scotland's musical outfit Runrig. Recently, ex-bandmate Pete Wishart broke the news of his passing, according to CBC.

He said, "He was just the nicest person you could ever hope to meet and a joy to perform with. An exceptional singer, musician, and song writer taken far too soon. We are going to miss him."

Bruce Guthro Cause of Death

It has also been confirmed that Bruce Guthro has passed away, as evidenced by the Scottish band's heartfelt tribute posted on Twitter, per the Scotsman.

"It is with the heaviest of hearts and with profound sadness that we inform you that Bruce passed away last night, having finally lost a long battle with cancer that has stretched back many years."

Two months ago, Kim Guthro made known of her husband, Bruces' battle with a severe illness.

More details are yet to be disclosed.

Bruce Guthro's Musical Journey

In 1998, Bruce Guthro entered the Scottish rock music scene.

He was an integral part of the band for two decades until its eventual disbandment in 2018.

Although he had performed frequently in Europe, Nova Scotia will always remain his home as it is where he was born and raised.

According to his website, "Bruce always maintained his solo career and continued to write and tour aside from his other endeavors."

Bruce's music career spanned over 40 years and included work as a solo artist.

With musical talent that had been active for over four decades, he had established himself as a renowned solo musician.
