Britney Spears' father, Jamie Spears, was hospitalized due to a bacterial infection.

Page Six first reported that the 71-year-old, who led Britney's conservatorship for years, was severely ill when he went to a medical facility. He was transferred to the infectious disease outpatient facility afterward and started recuperating.

Jamie Spears Out of the Hospital

On Thursday, October 5, Page Six released new photos of the patriarch outside his Louisiana home looking frailer and thinner following the hospitalization.

Jamie reportedly stayed in the hospital for weeks, where he underwent surgery as the infection caused him to be severely ill. According to the insider, he lost over 25 pounds over the past few years due to several health issues.

For what it's worth, Jamie was also admitted to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nev., in November 2018 after becoming seriously ill due to a "spontaneously ruptured" colon.

Britney's mother, Lynne, said he was expected to fully recover after the complicated post-operative period.

"I am dedicating my focus and energy to care for my family," Britney added in the family's statement. "We have a very special relationship and I want to be with my family at this time just like they have always been there for me."

The "Toxic" singer, who has been estranged from her father, took to Twitter - now X - at that time that she decided to take an indefinite break from work as it was important for her to put her family first. She ended up delaying her Las Vegas residency, Domination.

In March 2019, The Blast revealed that Jamie would undergo a second surgery to fully repair his colon. However, the procedure was expected to have a longer recovery period.

Britney and Jamie Spears' Relationship

Britney and Jamie started to have a complicated relationship after the pop star requested to remove the conservatorship that was placed in 2008.

She has yet to comment on her father's recent health scare, but it came after Lynne visited her for the first time in three years in May.

"My sweet mama showed up at my door step yesterday after 3 years ... it's been such a long time ... with family there's always things that need to be worked out ... but time heals all wounds !!!" she said in her Instagram post.
