Is there anyone out there that hasn't at least found themselves watching one episode of The Simpsons? Seriously, even if you aren't a fan or are way too old to be entertained by even an adult cartoon at some point in the last 25 years you have found yourself staring at Homer Simpson, no? For the die hard fans out there FXX just offered up a 12-day marathon which featured every one of the 552 episodes ever made and guess what? Viewers' tuned in like crazy. In fact the network scored its' best ratings ever with an average of 1.3 million viewers tuning in each night between 8 and 11 p.m.

Nearly 25 million people tuned in to watch at least some part of The Simpsons marathon and FXX will continue airing episodes five nights a week in the hopes of maintaining some pretty decent ratings. No doubt fans are also anxiously awaiting that special little crossover episode that is scheduled to air later this month with Family Guy. One of the reasons that The Simpsons has enjoyed such longevity is because it keeps looking for ways to stay tied in with pop culture. Overlapping with Family Guy is a no-brainer for both shows and will no doubt equal a ratings bonanza.

The innovative good stuff won't stop with that episode either because on November 9 a special crossover episode with Futurama will also air. How both of these cartoon worlds will somehow collide is being kept a secret and that's one of the reasons why even casual viewers' will likely tune in—just to see how they pull it off!

Did you catch any of The Simpsons marathon as it aired on FXX? Are you still a regular viewer of the show and if so, what is it that keeps you tuning in each week? Tell us about it in the comments below!
