Perrie Edwards has been working on her first solo album, allegedly with Ed Sheeran. Will the genre be pop rock?

The singer of Little Mix has been in talks with Ed about ideas and hopes to work with him on her upcoming album.

Perrie is taking her time with her debut solo record and she wants to get it just right, a source told The Sun on Sunday's Bizarre column.

Allegedly, the singer has been eager to work with Ed on ideas because she really respects him and enjoys his music personally.

The 30-year-old Perrie is contracted to Columbia Records and has expressed in the past how pleased she is to not have to answer to her company and be allowed to take her time creating her new music.

She stated to Grazia that she is the happiest person in the world because there's no deadline in my life. She shared that her label has advised her to simply go with the flow and enjoy finding out what her sound is going to be. She said she's fortunate to be enjoying myself."

Perrie has been in the studio working with producer Fred Again, songwriting veteran Steve Mac, and Little Mix partner Kamille.

"They're simply still so young in figuring out what they want to achieve, Kamille earlier stated in an interview with OfficialCharts.com.

"There's so many things that they're interested in, I couldn't pinpoint it to one thing. The best thing right now is that we're having fun discovering. Hearing their voices on stuff you wouldn't typically hear it on is just sending me. It's so, so exciting for me. Can you imagine, as someone who's used to just one thing with them? I couldn't even pinpoint it, but just know it's going to blow everyone's minds."

It can be recalled that back in December 2021, Little Mix announced that following the end of their Confetti tour in May 2022, they would be taking a small hiatus.

"It's been 10 amazing years, a wonderful non-stop adventure, and we feel the time is right to take a break so we can recharge and work on some other projects," Little Mix wrote on Twitter, adding that this break will be a temporary hiatus and not a breakup.

Since then, the members have begun to talk candidly about their future solo endeavors and their departure from the girl group. They have even exchanged dates for their individual solo music releases.

In October 2022, Perrie posted a short video of herself and her dog in the recording studio on Instagram. The video included an electric guitar strumming in the background, which led many fans to believe that Perrie was about to release a pop rock album.
