According to the media outlet, the musician's death remains under investigation following the stabbing incident. His loved ones have since published an obituary on North Jersey's website.

Following the confirmation of his death, his friends immediately paid tribute to him through their social media accounts.

His former bandmate Michael J. Ryan said, "We tend to embellish these kinds of things when people go, but anyone who knew CJ, even if it was for a brief moment in time, could attest to his charisma and the way he so awesomely approached people he both knew and did not know with love."

"You were a huge supporter of me and my career and genuinely rooted for me," Bailey Hand wrote. "You may be gone, but the impact you left on me and others around you will stay and stand strong."
