Billboard cited a statement released by Johns' manager, Mitch Clem, saying the famed artist died on Thursday, January 4, at an assisted living home in Los Angeles, Calif. She died of natural causes.

"Glynis powered her way through life with intelligence, wit, and a love for performance, affecting millions of lives," Clem said, per Variety. "She entered my life early in my career and set a very high bar on how to navigate this industry with grace, class, and truth. Your own truth. Her light shined very brightly for 100 years."

Clem continued, "Today is a somber day for Hollywood. Not only do we mourn the passing of our dear Glynis, but we mourn the end of the golden age of Hollywood."

Fans took to X to pay tribute to the actress and crooner as they looked back at her contributions to the industry.

One said, "Sondheim wrote Send in the Clowns specifically for her. A true musical theatre ACTOR and a legend. RIP Glynis Johns. The night smiles for you."

"Reminder that they originally wanted Glynis Johns for Mary Poppins but PL Travers thought she was too "rowdy" so they cast her as Mrs. Banks instead and wrote "Sister Suffragette" for her which Travers also hated since Mrs. Banks of the book was boring & subservient. RIP queen," another added.

A third social media user said, "RIP, Glynis Johns. Thank you for your incredible performance in one of my all-time favorite movies."

As she famously sang "Send in the Clowns," she told the Associated Press in 1990 what she thought about it.

"I've had other songs written for me, but nothing like that," she said. "It's the greatest gift I've ever been given in the theater."

Her family has yet to announce the funeral and memorial details.
