• Deadmau5 Sneaks Out of Hospital, Hops Plane to Play Miami Show

    Canadian progressive-house producer/DJ Deadmau5, born Joel Zimmerman, was hospitalized Thursday due to a case of severely swollen lymph nodes, EDM Sauce reports. But in under a day the artist broke doctor's orders -- which, based on the producer's social media accounts, included an IV, a sonogram and some other tests in addition to bedrest -- by sneaking out and hopping on a plane to Miami, arriving just in time to throw down at a Red Bull Music Academy gig held at The Fillmore.

The Jay Z-bought streaming service recently announced its new partnership with the Barclays Center in Brooklyn as a place to host concert and it has unveiled the lineup and date for the first one.     Deadmau5, real name Joel Zimmerman, is making use of his legal team and once again it is over a dispute with a former label. The "Strobe" producer is suing his former label Play Records, which is run by ex-collaborator Meleny "Melleefresh" Brown over alleged remixes and mashups that he did not authorize as per terms of their agreement.

He has gone through the major label machine on his way to dance music dominance, but it appears as though that is coming to an end. After signing with Universal Records' American imprint Capitol Records / Astralwerks for his 2014 album while(1<2), deadmau5 became dissatisfied with the way the label handled his music. That pushed him to break off the contract and go indie with music publishing and distribution company Kobalt that represents the likes of Dave Grohl, Lionel Richie, Beck, Skrillex, Paul McCartney and others.
