After 14 years since the end of the television program, "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" is set to return to the small screen. This time, however, the once-lighthearted show will now receive a dark and creepy series, being at the same level as some of the classic horror flicks.

The reboot series is held by Warner Bros. TV, Berlanti Productions and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the same team that brought Archie Comics' other characters to life in the show "Riverdale." According to Deadline, Aguirre-Sacasa, who penned the comic book series,  will create the script for the "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" pilot, while "Riverdale" director Lee Toland Kreiger takes the role of director of the series' first episode.

With Cosmopolitan describing the new "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" as having the same tone as "The Exorcist" and "Rosemary's Baby," the reboot series will center on Sabrina Spellman, a young witch living with her aunts set during the 1960's. Based on the comic book "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" by Archie Comics, the teenage witch does her best to balance her dual life as a witch and a teenager, dealing with the supernatural along the way.

Currently running eight issues, this iteration of "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" first appeared in the sixth issue of the comic book "Afterlife with Archie". Receiving positive response, a solo series was given to the new and darker version of Sabrina, with Aguirre-Sacasa penning the story, with Robert Hack as the artist and Jack Morelli taking care of the lettering.

Originally airing in September 1996, "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" starred Melissa Joan Hart as she lives a normal life despite being a witch. Light and humorous, the series lasted for seven seasons, with the first four seen on ABC, while the WB carrying the last three seasons.

"Sabrina the Teenage Witch" will air during the 2018-2019 season on The CW.
