The planet is still waiting to see the list of the World's Top 100 DJ's according to DJMag.com but in the meantime you can check out the picks for America's favorite DJ from DJ Times. This year's prize went to Markus Schulz, who unseated last year's winner Kaskade

The change in positions isn't exactly a surprise according to Dancing Astronaut: Kaskade took the award from Schulz for 2013, and Schulz had taken the title from Kaskade for 2012. Although no one's tried to raise a stink about it, the current champion is a German-born producer although he now resides permanently in Miami. Perhaps it's because the DJ Times awards are as controversial among hardcore EDM fans the DJ's themselves as any electronic music list but Schulz wasn't exactly glowing in his acceptance statement.

"I have never been in this industry for the sole purpose of winning awards, and my biggest accomplishment in life is having the ability to connect and entertain those who believe in me and what I do on a daily basis," he said.

Now here's where things get slightly confusing: DJ Times and sponsor Pioneer released a Top 10 finishers list for the American nominees. It would make sense that Kaskade would be at no. 2 if he and Schulz have been playing tag with the award, yet last year's champ doesn't appear on the list at all. Is it some Putin-esque scheme where Kaskade can't be no. 1 two years in a row but he can run again after a new candidate takes office? Seriously, we're asking.

For now, check out the rest of the Top 10:
