Earlier this week, Irish folk star Damien Rice teased fans with a short intro to his new song "My Favourite Faded Fantasy." Today (Sept. 11), Rice decided to drop the entire six-minute track.

The title track to Rice's third album, his first in eight years, begins as a soft lullaby with the singer's fragile voice delivering his lyrics. "You could be my favorite taste to touch my tongue," he sings. "I know someone who could serve me love, but it wouldn't fill me up." About halfway through the track, the guitars start to rumble louder as drums join. The loud-quiet-loud pattern carries until the end with Rice howling along. With Rick Rubin behind the control boards on this album, there's no telling what other surprises may be in store.

In 2006, Rice released 9, which included singles like "9 Crimes," "Rootless Tree" and "Elephant." Billboard's chart history tracked the album all the way to 22 in the U.S. The singer's first studio effort, O, was released in 2002 to positive reviews. In 2003, Rolling Stone wrote that the album "brims with swelling string sections and unrequited longing. Self-released and self-recorded, the album has garnered glowing reviews from the U.K. press for its absorbing melodies and emotional wallop."
