Nirvana's seminal album Nevermind is about to turn 23, and the lyrics to its hit song "Smells Like Teen Spirit" continue to boggle the minds of young teenagers.

In a recent REACT YouTube video (see below), a few teenagers sit down to dissect some lyrics from the track without knowing the song name or artist, and the result is priceless. There are only about two teens who actually guess correctly on who plays the song. Those same two teens continue to be the only ones who actually get the song. Alix and Adam waste no time in guessing Nirvana, while Jade guesses Kanye West and Kid Cudi after she reads the line "I'm worse at what I do best/And for this gift I feel blessed."

Most of the participants look to be confused for the entire breakdown. Labib has a pretty disheartening outburst toward the middle when he says "I don't know, now it feels like a love song" after reading "I feel stupid and contagious/Here we are now, entertain us." Jade redeems herself at this point and apologizes for the rapper comparisons. "Okay, but granted, you cannot understand what Kurt Cobain is saying most of the time." Very true, Jade. Sydney may summarize it best when she adds "It's a good song, but dissecting the lyrics is kind of confusing."

In 2011, the album was reissued as a box set for its 20th anniversary. The deluxe package included four CDs, a DVD of an unreleased live performance, rare B-Sides and BBC radio appearance recordings.

Earlier this year, the band was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
