Blake Shelton is reportedly strategizing to create a music competition series that will provide intense competition to "The Voice."

This development comes after the 47-year-old disappointed fans when he departed from the popular NBC show last year.

From that moment onwards, it was clear that the country superstar aspired to become a TV mogul in the vein of Simon Cowell or Ryan Seacrest.

Not long after departing from "The Voice," he made the exciting revelation of his partnership with Lee Metzger, an Emmy Award-winning former executive producer of the reality singing competition.

One Year Later

From the beginning, Blake Shelton has captured the attention of television audiences with the dynamic game show "Barmageddon," a creation that he and Lee brought to life alongside the Carson Daly, host of "The Voice."

However, insiders from the entertainment industry are buzzing with whispers that Blake's future endeavors might involve a music show, something entirely his creation.

According to an insider who spoke to The Sun, Blake has been eagerly anticipating news on the renewal of the show's third season and enjoying his involvement with "Barmageddon" as a delightful side project.

"But it's not near the scale of The Voice, and Blake's ambition is still to produce a music competition show eventually and for it to be even bigger than anything that has come before."

In his journey with "Barmageddon," Blake has gained invaluable expertise in budget-friendly television production.

His collaboration with Carson Daly on "The Voice" has also strengthened their bond.

However, Blake's ambitions in the world of television extend far beyond his current accomplishments. He has the potential to achieve much greater success in this field.

"He has great instincts and a huge fan base ready to embrace whatever he does next as a TV creator and producer."

Bigger TV

In May of last year, Blake decided to depart from "The Voice" to prioritize his family.

Initially, their joint effort on "Barmageddon," a show based on Blake's famous Ole Red bar in Nashville, had an incredible debut, with 1.2 million viewers tuning in on the USA Network in December 2022.

After the conclusion of its second season, the show's future hangs in the balance as fans eagerly await news of its potential renewal for a third season on the NBCUniversal-owned cable channel.

Regarding Blake's departure from "The Voice," a source reported to the outlet that "Blake was always an employee of the Voice. He is trying to become his person."

"He wants to become a TV mogul like Cowell or Seacrest. He's still working with Carson Daly but pulling the strings he wants to pull."

They went on to say, "Blake is realistic; he won't be a touring and performing star forever. He sees a future behind the camera."

When it comes to "Barmageddon," it has been claimed that his priority lies in producing the show rather than being in front of the camera.

Per the source, "His aspirations extend beyond being a mere entertainer, as he envisions transforming into something more than just a puppet dancing to others' tunes. It's about taking charge of his own destiny."

This comes amid reports of divorce rumors with wife Gwen Stefani. The two have yet to officially confirm that they are still together, after fans saw tell-tale signs they secretly separated.
